Camp MoodleCamp Moodle

July 28 & 29 or

July 31 & August 1

Moodle is the online learning management system that allows teachers to create a variety of activities for students.

Register for this two-day workshop through SARIC. It is session number 179 in the SARIC book.

A stipend will be paid to all BCBE teachers who complete the training and use Moodle with their students during the 2008-09 school year. You can receive $150 for this two-day workshop.

Quizzes and tests can contain multiple choice, true/false, short answer, random math questions, cloze, essays and others. Objective test questions are graded automatically and recorded in the online class grade book.

Assignments allow students to upload files to complete an assignment. Students can upload Word, PowerPoint, Excel or any other type of file. The files for all students are collecting in a single location for easy grading by the teacher.

Guided lessons are multi-step activities. Students are presented with content and then a question to check their understanding of the content before they move on to the next step. Questions are automatically graded and recorded in the online grade book.

Journals are private writings where students can respond to your prompts or write independently.

Forums are discussion boards that allow students to interact. You (or students) can post questions and others reply to them. Only students in your class can access your forums.

Chats are real-time text-based interactions between students. This can be used to collaborate with other classes. This is a moderated chat that is only available when the teacher is in the chat room.

Wikis are shared web pages that students can collaborate on.

Surveys are online questionnaires that students can use to survey their classmates for data collection projects.

Glossary is a shared location where students can create a classroom dictionary. Students enter words and definitions.

Internal mail lets students learn to use email in a safe, controlled environment. Students can exchange message only with other students in the class and the teacher gets a copy of all messages in order to monitor student use.

Be sure to bring activities, lessons, PowerPoints, your text book and anything else that might help you build activities for your new online class.
